They can simply buy Zoho. ![]()
I stumbled across the Zoho Writer this evening. It’s out there in public ‘beta’ and is supposed to be ‘free’. It’s pretty sweet for what it is; an on line web based word processor reachable from anywhere.
Using Firefox, I jumped right in, typed in some stuff. Simple enough, everything seemed to work as advertised. Then I searched my hard drive for a Word Doc with some formatting. Grabbed a section of text, copy and pasted it in there and it retained a significant portion of the formating if not all of it.
Pretty impressive. Speed isn’t bad at all. Is it a Word Killer? Nope but for free you can’t beat it.
Now if Google gave me this on top of my 2 gig’s of storage with GMail I’s sure use it from time to time to draft letters, take notes, do whatever from wherever. Heck for some small offices, and some positions within some organizations this is all you need.
They also offer:
Zoho Creator, an online web content/blog creator
Zoho CRM, free for up to 3 users
Zoho planner, a blog like tool for managing your to-do’s free for up to 10 pages
Zoho Virtual Office, free for up to 10 users. It requires a client download for Windows and Linux. Interesting, I’ll take a look. I hope it’s not some Java based shiznit.
and Zoho challange, a tool for creating online tests for candidates, your first 25 are free. Also worth investigating.
Everything at Zolo is in beta, but it looks well done.
